Canton High School
is seeking an exceptional and dynamic candidate to serve as a .2 French teacher
for the upcoming school year beginning in
August 2023
. This professional educator

JOB SUMMARY
Teachers provide a well-organized, smoothly functioning class environment in which students can access and make progress toward Massachusetts standards-based curriculum and develop social and emotional skills, while providing a safe and supportive educational environment for all students.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
(include but are not limited to)
Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences
Develop lesson plans that align with the state standards
Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
Prepare the classroom for class activities
Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities
Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students’ varying needs
Use relevant technology to support instruction
Observe and evaluate student’s performance and growth
Assign and grade classwork, homework, tests, and assignments
Provide appropriate feedback on work
Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing expectations and procedures
Participate in department and school meetings as needed
Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs
Keep up to date with advancements in subject area standards and pedagogy, and make necessary revisions to curriculum and instructional practices.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Massachusetts DESE teacher certification that is appropriate for the grade level and subject area assigned. (Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.)
Highly Qualified as per Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE)
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Working knowledge of relevant instructional technologies and student information system utilization
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the school department may find appropriate and acceptable
