The Burlington School Food Project is seeking youth staff for their Fork in the Road program for this upcoming summer. This position is a non-aligned, non-exempt position that will report to the Burlington School District’s Food Education and Youth Outreach Manager.
Come spend your summer with the Fork in the Road food truck. Staff will have a fully immersive food experience as they plant, weed, harvest, clean, prep and sell food to Burlington’s community. This will be Fork in the Road’s eighth year in operation and we are so looking forward to another fun-filled and fast-paced summer.
These positions are open to students 15 and up.
The essential functions for this position include:
Employees will assist in the maintenance and harvest of Burlington's school gardens. Weekly garden chores like mowing, weeding, watering, pest management, and harvesting will be required.
This job requires getting dirty, and employees will be expected to work rain or shine
Employees will have food truck shifts as well as gardening shifts each week.
Punctuality and strong communication skills are required.
Employees will prep, cook, and provide excellent customer service.
Employees will work an average of 4 days a week.
Employees must be highly motivated, show professionalism, and clearly represent FITR at all community events.
Other Requirements:
? Employees are responsible for getting to and from ALL job sites. Bus passes will be provided.
? Able to lift 20 pounds.
? Background check will be conducted. (as required by the Burlington School District)
Qualifications:
This is a competitive process and all student employees must be in good standing with Burlington High School. This means no disciplinary issues and you must have strong attendance.
Potential student employees must provide TWO teacher references.
Timeline:
June 19th - August 25th, 2023.
Compensation: $13.18/hr tips when vending! at 20-25 hours a week.
