The Burlington School District is seeking an Temporary Receptionist for the District Central Offices. This position is for the remainder of the SY2021/2022, ending June 30, 2022.
JOB GOAL:
Perform effective reception and welcoming duties for all visitors, incoming phone calls and staff inquiries at Central Office. Provide support to the operations of the district office through efficient, effective, and confidential assistance to the Executive Assistant.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Earned high school diploma or equivalent required, additional specific skill training and education is preferred
Demonstrates ability to plan, organize and prioritize work schedule to promote efficient workflow
Assimilates new information efficiently
Demonstrates skill in the use of grammar
Demonstrates sound judgment, discretion and decorum in dealing with staff and the public
Experienced in the use of office equipment
Demonstrates proficiency in computer programs such as, but not limited to Word, Excel, Word Publisher, PowerPoint, Gmail, Google docs
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Perform primary reception and telephone duties in the district office
Assists the Executive Assistant as needed
Uses discretion in discussing school affairs and maintains a high level of confidentiality
Plans procedures for accomplishing administrative support tasks
Maintains orderly filing system, paper and electronic
Performs routine office functions
Performs other tasks and duties in support of the Administration of the School District as appropriate
ESSENTIAL DUTIES – PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Possess visual acuity and stamina to work at a computer for a significant portion of the day
Possess strength and stamina to be able to remain in a stationary position for up to 90 minutes at a time throughout the workday
Occasional moving from place to place within office setting and other district buildings, light lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, twisting, bending or other limited physical activities
Demonstrate effective communication skills and ability to give and receive information through speaking and listening
ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Work environment is a regular office
Air-conditioned building
Occasional exposure to other environments – schools, public buildings, storage facilities, warehouses, retail business
Noise level moderate with an occasional exposure to loud noise
Ability to maintain proper decorum
EVALUATION:
Performance will be evaluated at 30 days on the ability and effectiveness in carrying out the above responsibilities by the Executive Assistant.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Work to June 30, 2022 for 15 hours per week - Monday-Friday 1:30-4:30pm.
