No experience necessary — IoT project (MicroPython on an ESP32) — I prefer you live in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia, Northern Macedonia, or Albania — 21 June 2020
I will consider candidates who live anywhere but I prefer candidates who live in the countries I listed in the Western Balkans . I care about your ability not your experience. In other words, your experience does not matter to me. We will work together by *text* chatting for one hour a day. We will *not* video chat. Therefore, you do not need to speak English for this project.
I have created functional specifications for an interesting and challenging IoT (Internet of Things) project using MicroPython and an ESP32 microcontroller (which is akin to Arduino but generally better than Arduino) yet you neither need any experience with MicroPython nor with an ESP32 microcontroller.
I have an ESP32 here in Los Angeles. You will help me to write firmware (software) which I will load onto my ESP32. Therefore, although I am merely a Python beginner I am seeking a very intelligent person to tutor me because you will be learning about MicroPython and the ESP32 microcontroller as you teach me about the MicroPython and the ESP32 microcontroller. Yes, of course I presume the sentence that precedes this one probably seems outlandish (bizarre) to you.
*** DAYS AND HOURS ***
I will pay you for one hour of your time to text chat (*not* video chat) with me for one hour each day or night (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) sometime between 5pm to 10pm (GMT 2). Would you normally be available to work one hour per day, Sunday-Thursday between 5pm to 10pm (GMT 2)?
You may choose a different one hour time period to work with me on each day we work together. For example, we might on Sunday from 5pm to 6pm, on Monday 9pm to 10pm, on Tuesday from 7pm to 8pm, and so on.
*** EXTREMELY LOW RISK OF BEING PAID ***
I suppose most freelancers and most clients have unrealistic expectations about Freelancer.com. I guess that over 90% of freelancers and clients quit using Freelancer.com within a year. Also, as you might know, not only is it difficult for freelancers to convince clients to award them a project on Freelancer.com, but it is also actually often difficult for freelancers who work on a project to receive their full payment. This can be *extremely frustrating* for freelancers.
In my experience fixed time/fixed price projects on Freelancer.com (and elsewhere, not only on the internet) only work well for small projects with extremely clear specifications. In reality, most fixed time/fixed price projects have vague specifications and are too big.
If you were to work with me on this project I would pay you hourly. Specifically I intend to normally create a Milestone Payment on Freelancer.com for you, prior to each day we work, for one hour of your time. As a result you would take a tiny financial risk because you would only risk being unpaid for one hour of your time.
This would be actually a huge benefit for you. If you dont believe me I suggest you search on Google to find out about the myriad problems freelancers typically face when working on fixed time/fixed price projects on Freelancer.com.
*** MY DIFFICULT TEST ***
As is the case with most projects on Freelancer.com, many freelancers are interested in this project. Therefore, to ferret out an excellent candidate I have created at difficult test. If you dont pass my test then I wont be interested in working with you.
*** INTELLIGENCE OVER EXPERIENCE ***
I dont really care about your experience. After many years of working with many engineers, I have found that intelligent engineers can quickly gain valuable experience with a technology that is unfamiliar to them and soon become productive using it. However, frankly, engineers who are not intelligent, are generally neither worth my time nor money, regardless of their experience.
