Reporting to the Manager of Procurement Operations, the Procurement Buyer Professional 1 will support the Enterprise Category Management organization as part of the Buy Desk team. This team improves the user experience and purchasing consistency by owning the Tactical Buying function, leveraging spend category designed guidebooks to drive tactical sourcing outcomes while assigning requests that can be otherwise dispositioned to appropriate procurement teams or sourcing channels. The individual will be expected to lead the end-to-end sourcing process for certain projects through transactional relationships with suppliers and business stakeholders. The end-to-end process could include requests for quotes, supplier selection, due diligence responsibilities, and contracting via Humana tools and processes. Cross-functional and cross-business coordination within Humana, the ECM organization and with Humana's supplier base is required.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
Triage inbound sourcing requests with a balance of rules-based and critical thinking capabilities to drive work to the appropriate team
Lead sourcing and contracting initiatives based on category guidebooks
Engage in end-to-end purchasing of supplier identification, evaluation, and selection
Empowered decision making within the confines of the guidebooks provided from the ECM organization
Technical procurement overview and basic contracting requirements
Ensuring legal terms in contracts are in line with category and procurement objectives
Providing actionable savings, spend, and compliance insight
Contributing to post-contract sourcing delivery success and customer service
Advising transactional stakeholders on post contracting expectations using source-to-pay knowledge
Managing multiple tasks or projects simultaneously in a timely and professional manner
Leveraging broad understanding of Enterprise Category Management to help navigate a variety of inbound requests
Required Qualifications :
4-year degree in related field, preferably in a business or technical discipline
Proven ability to speak with and work across all levels of the business
Strong financial and business acumen
Solid public speaking and negotiation skills required
Detail oriented and critical thinker
Excellent analytical skills; ability to research and make efficient use of resources to achieve effective business results
Proficient in Microsoft products (i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Effectiveness in working collaboratively with cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications:
At least 2 years of relevant sourcing experience preferred with technical procurement and contracting knowledge base
Working with multiple business partners
Experience with Salesforce and icertis
Additional Information
This role can be Remote Nationwide.
